An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure…. Immunizations, are safe accessible and cost effective ways to prevent illnesses and keep you your family and your community safe. It was not until after I contracted meningococcal meningitis and became permanently disabled, that I found out about the vaccine that could have prevented my illness. Although, I have gone on to be happy and successful, my wish is that no one else will ever have to endure what my family and went through as a result of my illness. Research and technology offer innumerable ways to improve our lives. To me choosing to immunize against vaccine preventable illnesses is as important and practical as wearing a seatbelt. If it is easily available, and could save your life, why wouldn’t you use it?
