I believe immunizations are important to the community to prevent disease and the spread of disease. In my profession it is important for me to be immunized because of all the ill patients I come in contact with directly and indirectly. I have had a fear of needles for many years and did not take flu injections. After I had a very bad case of the flu I have faithfully had my flu vaccine every year and since that time I have not been ill (with the flu).
It is very important that children are immunized because they transmit so many germs in their environment whether at school or in the home. There will be enough illness in their childhood but why get the ones that are preventable by being immunized?
